  • Description

Last month, the British tailoring industry's journal "Tailor & Cutter" accused Prince Charles, the hair to the British throne, for "representing a studied shabbiness" and "exhibiting sheer lack of style." Today (Wednesday), the Prince got his own back by turning up at the Master Tailors' Benevolent Association dinner wearing an old tweed jacket over his evening trousers. Then, as his hosts tried not to comment or show their disconcert, he shed his old jacket and put on a dinner jacket--resplendent with the Order of the Garter--saying: "I can't resist taking the Mickey out of people occasionally." Taking the Mickey is an English colloquialism for "ridiculing". Cameras were not allowed at the dinner.
