En route to the non-aligned nations summit conference in Algiers, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nayan made a brief, 24-hour, stop-over in Bahrain on Monday (3 September).

Sheikh Zayed, who is President of the Union of Arab Emirates, was making his first visit to Bahrain since the formation of the Union in December 1971.

His state of Abu Dhabi is on very good terms with Bahrain. The meeting came the day before ministers from 18 oil-producing Arab States gathered in Kuwait to discuss oil nationalization, higher prices, and the possible use of oil as a political weapon.
