Eight people were injured during the night of August 10-11 in two separate bombings by suspected Basque Separatists. The bombs were placed in a French Bank Office and Renault Car Dealer Showroom in central Bilbao. Police said the incident was probably a reprisal for a French Court ruling to extradite four suspected Basque Separatists to Spain. The injured were all passers-by who sustained minor cuts from glass splinters. Members of supporters of the guerrilla organisation ETA (BASQUE HOMELAND AND FREEDOM) have in the past month attacked dozens of French vehicles and business interests to protest against the French government's crackdown on suspected ETA militants living in France.
