REPORTER: "Has it been difficult to come to terms with all the success you have had?"

BUSH: "Well, it's been amazing. I think that's the main thing that I've found. Not really that difficult, because it's something that I really enjoy doing. I mean there are obviously pressures and things, but it's really good that i'm in the position to be able to go through with all these things."

REPORTER: "Looking at your album sleeve, one would think that the Orient has had quite an influence on you. Do you think, when you go to Japan, you will be able to write there?"

BUSH: "I really don't know. I'm sure I'll get a lot of inspiration from the place because I just find it fascinating. I mean like all their forms of art. They are very into simplicity and beauty in it's natural way. And they have complete ceremonies about so many things. I just find it beautiful, it's such an incredible culture. Very disciplined as well."

REPORTER: "In your career, who would you say has influenced you most musically."

BUSH: "I think a lot of people. I think probably I would like to think my heroes have, who are basically people like Bryan Ferry, David Bowie very much so. I think he's brilliant. And people like Steely Dan. There are so many people to admire you can't list them."

Kate, who was born near London in July 1958, writes all her own material. She signed for her recording company, when only 16, and for the past three years she has spent her time preparing the album, 'The Kick Inside', and performing, in the London area, with the K.T. Bush Band.

Background: Kate Bush, the young British pop singer, who this year has achieved international recording success, has been invited to take part in the Tokyo song Festival. The festival, from the 18th to the 26th June provides Kate, a relative unknown before 1978, with the biggest challenge of her short career. The invitation came after the remarkable success of her chart-topping first single, 'Wuthering Heights', and the album, 'The Kick Inside', from which it was taken. Both are proving to be hits on a world scale, and Kate, still only 19, is hoping that 'Moving', the song she has chosen for the festival, will have the same international appeal. As well as being a highly successful singer-songwriter, Kate is also a keen student of mime and dance, and this comes over strongly in her stage act.
