    In Amman on Wednesday, Jordan and West Germany formally signed and exchanged documents relating to a Civil Aviation agreement between the two countries. The agreement gave Royal Jordanian Airlines (ALIA) the rights to fly into Germany, with reciprocal rights for the German carrier, Lufthansa.

    SYNOPSIS: The Jordanian government was represented at the signing by the Minister of Transport, Mr. Ghaleb Barakat while the West German ambassador, Mr. Louis Schlegal, represented his country.

    A similar ceremony had already taken place in Bonn, the capital of West Germany.

    Under the agreement, the Royal Jordanian Airlines, ALIA, was given rights to fly into West Germany. ALIA is now operating two flights a week there. The West German airline, Lufthansa, was given reciprocal rights to fly into Jordan.

    Others who attended the signing included Jordan's General Director of Civil Aviation, Mr. Mohammed Abu Nawar, the under-Secretary of Transport, Mr. Ali Zuheimat, the General Director of ALIA, Mr. Ali Ghandour, Foreign Ministry officials and number of German embassy staff.
