  • Description

A South African Senator for the Cape Province, Professor Denis Worrall, said in London on Tuesday (8 April) that the current meeting of the Organisation of African Unity to discuss South African was very important.

The meeting is being held in Dar Es Salaam.

Senator Worrall told Visnews' African Editor, Bill Ward, that the meeting was very important for the detente movement.

South Africa wished to see the South West Africa issue settled and had played an important role in creating a climate conductive to a settlement in Rhodesia.

Senator Worrall said South Africa would like to see a stable Government in Rhodesia with all communities represented democratically.

He said it was up to the Rhodesians whether a black Government took over in the country.

(A transcript of the interview with Professor Worrall is given below.)
