This was a busy day for a pair of presidents visiting in New York. President Carlos Garcia of the Philippines attended church services this morning at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Cathedral, and later appeared on NBC's Meet the Press. Garcia said his country will never recognize Red China, even if the United States reverses it's stand on the subject. He also called for greater investments by private American capital in all of free Asia.
West Germany's president Theodor Heuss attended services at the German Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Paul, and spent most of the afternoon visiting friends. Both men met this evening in Manhattan, and a few moments later, paid a call on former president Herbert Hoover at a downtown hotel. This is President Heuss' last night in New York... he leaves for home tomorrow aboard the liner Berlin.
