AFTER AN INSPECTION OF MILITARY PERSONNEL AT THE NAVAL AIR STATION AT QUONSET POINT, THE TWO PRESIDENTS CONFERRED FOR NEARLY THREE HOURS AT THE HOME OF MRS. KENNEDY'S PARENTS, HAMMERSMITH FARM IN NEWPORT. FOR MRS. KENNEDY, THE VISIT BY AYUB KHAN MEANT A CHANCE TO RENEW THE FRIENDSHIP FORMED ON HER VISIT TO PAKISTAN LAST SPRING.

    AFTER THEIR MEETING, A JOINT COMMUNIQUE WAS ISSUED, AFFIRMING THE AGREEMENT OF THE TWO LEADERS THAT THE UNITED STATES AND PAKISTAN MUST COOPERATE AGAINST THREATS TO WORLD PEACE. THEIR FORMAL AND INFORMAL SESSIONS ENDED SHORTLY BEFORE MID AFTERNOON AND THE KENNEDYS ACCOMPANIED PRESIDENT KHAN TO A WAITING HELICOPTER WHERE HE BEGAN HIS RETURN TRIP TO WASHINGTON.
