    MR. DEAN RUSK, THE AMERICAN SECRETARY OF STATE SAID IN WASHINGTON YESTERDAY (FRIDAY) THAT THE WAR IN SOUTH VIETNAM COULD BE EXPANDED "IF THE COMMUNISTS PERSIST IN THEIR COURSE OF AGGRESSION". IN A PREPARED ADDRESS TO THE AMERICAN LAW INSTITUTE, HE CALLED ON THE COMMUNISTS TO STOP USING ADJOINING LAOS AS A 'CORRIDOR' FOR THE CARRIAGE OF ARMS AND MEN INTO SOUTH VIETNAM.

    IN SOUTH VIETNAM ITSELF, SOUTH VIETNAMESE TROOPS ATTACHED TO AMPHIBIOUS ARMOURED TROOP CARRYING UNITS WERE RECENTLY GIVEN GALLANTRY AWARDS FOR OPERATIONS AGAINST VIETCONG FORCES IN THE MEKONG DELTA REGION.

    THE AWARDS WERE PRESENTED AT A CEREMONY IN DINH TUONG PROVINCE, WHERE THE M-113 AMPHIBIOUS TROOP CARRIERS WERE OUT IN STRENGTH. AMONG THE RECIPIENTS WAS LIEUTENANT COLONEL LY TONG BA, THE UNIT'S COMMANDER. PRESENTING THE AWARDS - COL. HUYNH VAN TON, WHO COMMANDS THE THIRTY-THIRD TACTICAL REGION. HE WAS ASSISTED BY AN AMERICAN MILITARY ADVISER, COL. MARKAY.
