    The Jamaican Prime Minister, Mr. Michael Manley, said in Lusaka, Zambia, on Sunday (9 September) that Jamaicans were prepared to fight alongside "Freedom fighters" in Southern Africa.

    "If we can over find a way to train our people, were are prepared to send volunteers to come and stand shoulder to shoulder with Freedom fighters in the struggle for freedom", he said.

    Mr. Manley was speaking at Lusaka Airport after travelling to Zambia from Algiers with Zambian President Dr. Kenneth Kaunda. Both Presidents had been attending the non-aligned summit in Algiers.

    Mr. Manley told the crowd at the airport that what hurt Zambia also hurt Jamaica and he promised full support to Zambia in dealing with problems which arose because of the political problems of southern Africa.

    SYNOPSIS: Zambian President, Dr. Kenneth Kaunda arrives home at Lusaka to a warm welcome after attending the non-aligned nations summit meeting in Algeria last week.

    With him, Jamaica Prime Minister Mr. Michael Manley who had also bene at the non-aligned summit. Mr. Manley told crowds at the airport that what hurt Zambia also hurt Jamaica.

    He added that his country would give full support to Zambia in dealing with problems which arose because of the political situation in Southern Africa. Mr. Manley said that if Jamaica could ever find a way to train its people, it was prepared to send volunteers to stand shoulder to shoulder with freedom fighters in the struggle for freedom in Africa.
