INTRODUCTION: Bolivia moved nearer to a berth in the 1978 World Soccer Cup Final in Argentina by beating Venezuela 3-1 in a Group Two match played in Caracas on Sunday (6 March).

SYNOPSIS: Bolivia, in green jerseys, score their first goal through Ovidio Mezzo.

The Bolivians had the disadvantage of plying on their opponents home ground but this did not deter them. Venezuela were trying to keep face with their fans but to no avail.

The second half began with the Venezuelans determined to launch a counter-attack. This lasted for 10 minutes and in the 76th minute of the game, Bolivia's Porfirio Jimenez gave his team their second goal.

And that was about the end for Venezuela. Four minutes later, Miguel Aguilar gave Bolivia its third goal.

Four minutes from the end of the game, Venezuela scored its only goal. Commentators say the result was not surprising as Venezuelans favour baseball move than soccer. It was Bolivia's second consecutive victory, and they became the only team in the series so far to win by a two goal margin.
