  • Description

The plight of villagers in Haragacha, in the Rangpur district of Bangladesh, is typical of millions throughout the nation in the aftermath of recent flooding.

The floods wiped-out the village's only trade corp, tobacco, and famine soon set in.

The villagers sold-off all their possessions in the quest for food, even to the extent of ripping corrugated iron from their roofs to sell to passing traders.

Once possessions had gone, it was a case of either moving to other areas for food, shelter and work, or dying.

Many villagers left in one large group, leaving their dead behind.
