ONE OF THE MEMBERS OF THE EXPEDITION IS DR. PER SORESEN, A DANISH ARCHAEOLOGIST. THE THAI-DANISH TEAM DID PRELIMINARY WORK FOR TWO MONTHS EARLY IN 1960, AND PLANNED THE MAIN EXPEDITION BETWEEN THE RIVERS KWAE NOI AND KWAT YAI FOR THE 1961 - 62 COLD SEASON.

THIS AREA WAS CHOSEN BECAUSE THE DUTCH ARCHAEOLOGIST, DR.H.R.VAN HEEKEREN, FOUND PRIMITIVE STONE (IMPLEMENTS - PEBBLE TOOLS - IN THE AREA DURING THE YEARS HE SPENT WITH THE JAPANESE AS A PRISONER OF WAR.

THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL TEAM HAS BEEN WORKING IN ABOUT EIGHT SITES AND HAVE FOUND HUMAN SKELETONS, BURIAL GIFTS, POLISHED STONE AXES, FLAT STONE BRACELETS, BONE IMPLEMENTS, GRINDSTONES, ABOUT 20,000 POTSHEROS, AND THOUSANDS OF ANIMAL BONES. THE AGES OF THESE RANGE FROM THE PALAEOLITHIC AGE TO ABOUT THE 15TH CENTURY. THEY WERE FOUND IN VARIOUS LAYERS AND IN MANY CAVES.
