  • Description

Syrian authorities say more than four hundred civilians were killed or wounded in Israeli air raids on Damascus between October 14 and 18. Dr. Jalal Hasaki, Director of Damascus Central Hospital said 172 victims had been brought to his hospital alone, and thirty-eight of them had died. He added that many of the patients had been hit by shrapnel from booby traps which he alleged had been dropped by Israeli planes over Damascus and its suburbs. Most of the casualties were women and children.

On Thursday (October 18) Syrian Government officials took foreign newsmen to a Damascus Hospital to see civilian wounded and to a bombed refugee camp on the outskirts of the city. About twelve houses were damaged or destroyed at the camp and villagers said fifteen people had been killed and more than sixty wounded. Most of the refugees were Syrians evacuated from the Golan heights during the six day war.
