    The Most Reverend and Right Honourable Dr A M Ramsay Archbishop of Canterbury and Primate of all England, and Mrs Ramsay, arrived in Auckland New Zealand on Friday morning, March 5, to begin a six-day visit to New Zealand.

    They were met at the airport by the Bishop of Auckland, the Right Reverend E A Gowing, the assistant bishop, the Right Reverend O R Monteith, Mr G E W Burns, of the New Zealand Government Internal Affairs Department and church officials.A small crowd of clergy and church members were present at the airport to greet the archbishop and his wife.After meeting the press the bishop was taken to the Air Force station theatre (Auckland airport is at present shared by the Royal Zealand Air Force and civil airlines) where he was to take part in a panel discussion for TV.

    This discussion was held before television cameras and recording were made in the studios of AKTV2 in Shortland Street whose outside broadcast van and crew were set up a the theatre.With Dr Ramsay on the panel were Professor J E Morton, professor of biology at Auckland University and a prominent Layman in the Anglican church, also a radio and TV commentator, Ian Johnstone.After the panel discussion the Ramsays left for the city by car where they were to lunch with Bishop Gowing, before flying on to Christchurch in the South Island.

    Dr and Mrs Ramsay are in the course of a tour which embraces America, Fiji, New Zealand and Australia.
