Globe-trotting President Soekarno of Indonesia , left Djakarta, Sept 26, on yet another world trip. This time his destination is the United Nations General Assembly, where he will join the leaders of the world already in New York. With the President was a 55-man delegation including Foreign Minister Subandrio. Also with him was Communist Party leader D.N. Aidit.
To see him off at the airport was a crowd of about 20,000. A cheering mob broke through the police cordon as the President was bout to board the aircraft. In his farewell message, President Soekarno stated he intended to defend the interests of the Indonesian people both inside and outside the United Nations.
It is thought Soekarno will bring up the question of Dutch New Guinea, at UNO. Indonesia has claimed this territory as her own for several years. Before arriving in New York the President will make a two-day stop-over in Japan. He is due to address the General Assembly on Sept 30.
