Background: Soviet Premier Khrushchev addressed the Austro-Soviet Society in Vienna July 2. Madame Khrushchev accompanied her husband. Both - in the Communist Party tradition - applauded his speech making. Mr. Khrushchev afterwards acknowledge the greetings of Communists rallied beneath a balcony of the Society's meeting place, the Vienna Hofburz.

Next day the Soviet leader began a five-day tour of the Austrian provinces. He first saw the Ybbs-Persenbeug Dam and hydro-electric power station on the Danube and visited the fortress-like former Nazi concentration camp at Mauthausen - now a national monument.
