  • Description

London's Kings Cross railway station, Aug 12, saw the departure of a very special passenger: joining his parents and his brother and sister at Balmoral, Scotland, Prince Andrew embarked on his first train journey.

Carried by Nurse Anderson, Prince Andrew - now nearly six months old - was wide awake when he arrived at the station. He sat bolt upright in his nurse's arms, wearing a white woollen coat with a shawl round his legs. He displayed considerable interest in the sights and sounds of the station and provided the crowds there with one of the best views which Londoners have had of him since he was born.

Two special coaches had been attached to the Aberdeen train which was to take the baby Prince to the Scottish castle where the Royal Family are spending their summer holiday.
