    A PARTY OF 56 SOUTH VIETNAMESE TROOPS, INJURED IN THE CONFLICT AGAINST THE VIETCONG, HAVE BEEN FLOWN TO THE UNITED STATES FOR TREATMENT AT THE NEWBURGH VETERANS HOSPITAL IN NEW YORK.

    ALL THE INJURED MEN ARE PARALYSED FROM THE WAIST DOWN.

    THEY WERE MOVED TO THE UNITED STATES ON THE PERSONAL ORDERS OF PRESIDENT JOHNSON. AN AMERICAN EXPERT ON PARAPLEGIC DISORDERS, DOCTOR HOWARD RUSK, HAD REPORTED TO THE PRESIDENT HOW HE HAD FOUND THE TROOPS 'LITERALLY ROTTING TO DEATH' NEAR SAIGON.

    THE TROOPS WERE INTERVIEWED IN SAIGON BY THE UNITED STATES AMBASSADOR, MR HENRY CABOT LODGE, AND THE ARMY SURGEON DIRECTOR IN SOUTH VIETNAM, COLONEL VU-NGOC-HOAN.

    THE DISABLED TROOPS HAVE ALL BEEN RECEIVING THE BEST TREATMENT AVAILABLE IN SOUTH VIETNAM, THEY WILL UNDERGO SOME OF THE MOST MODERN TREATMENT POSSIBLE IN THE UNITED STATES.
