    A helicopter ferried President and Madam Chiang Kai Shek to the United States' 7th Fleet aircraft carrier, Bon Homme Richard' as it lay off Taiwan on November 11.

    The Presidential couple, saluted by a broadside of guns, word welcomed aboard by Vice Admiral Beakley, Commander of the 7th Fleet, and Vice Admiral Austin K. Doyle, Chief of the United States Taiwan Defence Command.

    President Chiang, attired in his five-star uniform, first reviewed a guard of honour and then retired tot the Captain's cabin to await an air show which had to be delayed for half-an-hour because of a sudden storm.

    Some 150 jet fighters and bombers rolled off the carrier after the storm was over and an impressive show of fire-power was demonstrated as the lands attacked sea targets with rockets and bombs.

    President Chiang inter held a Press Conference aboard the ship and said he was more firmly convinced than ever of Western Pacific security and the close Sinoc American defense team-work.
