  • Description

Since President Anwar Sadat of the United Arab Republic made the proposal to Israel that it should withdraw from some occupied territory in order that the Suez Canal may be made operational once more, the stretch of water between the Mediterranean and the Red Sea, has come sharply back into focus as a big news item. For about 18-months little or nothing has been mentioned about the disused canal, but on Monday cameraman Ken Ludlow went to the Great Bitter Lake where 14 ships of several nationalities have been stranded. he reports that, according to the skeleton crews on board some of the ships, they could be ready to sail in 30-minutes. Others, however, say their vessels will never move under their own power again.
