Background: The Togolese Foreign Minister, Mr. Avi Houenou Hunlede has opened the International Labour Organisation conference in the capital of Lome.
Speaking on behalf of Togo President Genera Gnassingbe Eyadema, Mr. Hunlede said that the harmonization of social institutions was of vital importance for the welfare of all people.
Mr. Hunlede added that African nations appreciated the positive contribution by the International Labour Organisation in aiding their development.
Delegates representing the governments, employers and workers of many nations were attending the conference which ends on Friday (12 December).
