The Foreign Ministers of Italy and Somalia, Signor Aldo Moro and Mr. Omer Arteh Ghalib, met on Thursday (11 March) during a second round of talks following Mr. Arteh's arrival on a two-day official visit. During Thursday's meeting, the two men expressed a joint hope for an early re-opening of the Suez Canal, it was reported.
During the day, the Somalia Foreign Minister also met Italian President Saragat at the Quirinale Palace in Rome.

Mr. Omer Arteh Ghalib was greeted at the Palace by President Giuseppe Saragat and Italian Foreign Minister Aldo Moro. Thursday's meeting with the Italian Foreign Minister was part of the second of a two-day official visit to Italy.
During Mr. Arteh's meetings with Signor moro in the Foreign Ministry, the two men discussed the main international problems including the Middle East crisis. Mr. Arteh also laid a wreath at the tomb of Italy's unknown soldier during the day.
In their talks, it was reported, the two Foreign Ministers stressed that all international controversies should be solved in the United Nations. They reportedly expressed a joint hope for an early re-opening of the Suez Canal. The Foreign Ministers also discussed the Common Market and Africa.
