President Tito of Yugoslavia has had his first round of talks in Delhi with the Indian Prime Minister, Mrs Indira Gandhi. Much of their discussions centrad on the problems in east Pakistan and a sharp increase in tension between Pakistan and India in the last few days.
This film, from cameraman Prem Prakash in delhi, shows President Tito, on the second day of his visit, paying homage to the Mahatma Gandhi, meeting Mrs gandhi and calling on the Indian President Mr Giri.
SYNOPSIS: The journey to the banks of the river Jumna to pay tribute at the memorial to the Mahatma Gandhi, is a customary journey for heads of state when they visit India. afterwards, President Tito went along with another custom...a visit to the memorial of the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru.
Later, came President Tito's first political meeting, when the present Prime Minister, Mrs Indira Gandhi, paid him a courtesy call. President Tito had spent a great part of the day, the second of his four day visit, preparing with his aides for his first formal discussions with Mrs Gandhi.
President Tito also made a formal call on the Indian President, Mr Girl, at the President's Place in Delhi. Over the next two days, President Tito and Mrs Gandhi are discussing a wide range of subjects, including the East Pakistan crisis and reports of a military build-up on India's borders. In her first talks with President Tito, Mrs Gandhi assured him that India did not want war with Pakistan but had to be prepared to meet threats coming from that quarter. Mrs Gandhi is reported to have said India had taken only defensive precautions along the border with Pakistan.
