    SPEECH ON FILM (TRANSCRIPT)

INTERVIEWER: "The Kenyan government has, in a statement today, accused the Popular Front, the man sought after the bombing of the Nairobi blast to be a member of the Popular Front. What is your reaction to that?"

SHARIF: "This is very ridiculous. The Popular Front For The Liberation of Palestine had nothing to do with that, and one wonders where did the Kenyan government get that information? I repeat, we had nothing to do with it. This is very ridiculous."

    INTERVIEWER: "Thank you very much."

Background: INTRODUCTION: The Kenyan government has accused a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) of being responsible for the bomb blast at Nairobi's Norfolk Hotel on New Year's Eve (31 December.) The bombing killed 15 people and injured 87. PFLP politbureau member Bassam Abu Sharif denied that his group had anything to do with the blast.

SYNOPSIS: The Kenyan government said the man, registered at the Norfolk as Muradi Aksali, carried a Maltese passport. He was subsequently identified as Mohammed Abdel-Hamid Qaddura, a Moroccan, aged 34. The government said the man was a member of the PFLP. But the Moroccan newspaper Le Matin said on Saturday (10 January) that the man was not a Moroccan.
