Mr. Mahmud Riad, Secretary General of the Arab League, had talks on the latest Middle East developments with President Nicolae Ceausescu of Rumania in Bucharest on Friday (7 June).
Mr. Riad, who used to be Egypt's Presidential adviser on foreign affairs, is in Rumania on an official visit.
A statement issued after the talks said they had taken place in an atmosphere of friendship and agreement.
The following day it was announced that President Anwar Sadat would visit Rumania later this month at the invitation of President Ceausescu.
Rumania is the only Warsaw Pact Country to maintain diplomatic relations with Israel and President Ceausescu has been involved in a number of conciliatory moves in the search for a Middle East settlement.
