    About 300 demonstrators marched through the streets of Nairobi on Wednesday (21 March) chanting "go home" to whites on the street and holding a rally -- all to mark the 13th anniversary of the March 1960 shooting of 69 black Africans in South Africa.

    South African police had fired at a group of demonstrators at Sharpeville on 21 March 1960. The United Nations marks the day as International Day -- aimed at the elimination of racial discrimination and conflict.

    There were no incidents or violence during Wednesday's demonstration. The Chairman of the National union of Kenyan Students Mr. Justus Ogeka declared at the rally: "We unite our hands in condemning any kind of racial subjection."
