INDIRA GANDHI, THE INDIAN PRIME MINISTER, LEFT CAIRO TODAY (SATURDAY) AFTER TWO DAYS OF TALKS WITH PRESIDENT NASSER OF THE UNITED ARAB REPUBLIC THAT DEALT IN PART WITH FRESH MOVES TO BRING PEACE TO VIETNAM. MRS. GANDHI WILL NEXT HAVE TALKS WITH PRESIDENT TITO OF YUGOSLAVIA ON HIS BRIONI ISLAND RETREAT IN THE ADRIATIC, AND ON TUESDAY SHE FLIES TO MOSCOW TO START A FIVE-DAY OFFICIAL VISIT TO THE SOVIET UNION.

    THE INDIAN AND U.A.R. LEADERS HAD THEIR TALKS AT PRESIDENT NASSER'S KUBBAH PALACE IN CAIRO. THEY FIRST MET PRIVATELY AND LATER HAD FULL DISCUSSIONS IN THE PRESENCE OF DELEGATIONS REPRESENTING BOTH COUNTRIES. IT WAS UNOFFICIALLY REPORTED TODAY THAT THE TWO LEADERS HAD AGREED THAT THE RECONVENING OF THE 1964 GENEVA CONFERENCE OFFERED THE BEST HOPE OF A PEACEFUL SETTLEMENT IN VIETNAM.

    MRS. GANDHI AND PRESIDENT NASSER ALSO AGREED TO FORM A SIX-MEMBER JOINT COMMITTEE TO LAY DOWN MEASURES FOR CONSOLIDATING RELATIONS BETWEEN INDIA AND THE U.A.R. THE COMMITTEE WENT INTO IMMEDIATE SESSION.
