    SCU President Truman speaks:-"It certainly is a very great pleasure for me as the President of the United States to welcome you to the Capital of our Country, and on behalf of the Government and the people of the United States I bid you a most cordial welcome. I think your visit will a, improve - is that is possible - the cordial relations which exist between our two great countries., and I hope that while you're here you will have a very enjoyable time. I was most happy to hear that the King had recovered so promptly so that you could make this trip."



    SCU to CU President Truman continues:-"I hope while you are here you will get a chance to see a great many of our people. I am sincerely sorry that you can't get from one end of the Country to the other as you did in Canada & let everybody in the Country have a chance to get acquainted with you, because whenever - Margaret tells me - whenever anyone becomes acquainted with you, they immediately fall in love with you."



    CU Princess Elizabeth speaks:-"It is a great pleasure, Mr. President, (Applause) for my husband and me to be visiting you here in Washington. During our trip through Canada I heard much of the warm goodwill shown by the people of the United States towards the people of Canada."



    LV to CU Princess Elizabeth continues:-"The message that has gone out from this great Capital City has brought help & courage to be a troubled world, & in that other proud Capital where I live, as in Canada from where I have just come, we also are determined to work with all our strength for freedom & peace."

    SV Sir Oliver Frank speaks:-"For you here are the ears & eyes of all America. Thru your stories & pictures the people of 48, States, the people whom Their Royal Highnesses would so much like to see but cannot visit on this occasion, they may see & hear & read about them."



    CU Princess Elizabeth speaks:-"Mr. Wooten, Ladies & Gentlemen: My Husband & I thank you for this welcome to Washington. Seeing so many of you here brings home to us in a vivid way the scale of the Press, Radio & Television & Newsreels of this Country. In meeting you I feel that I am meeting representatives of every part of your great nation, & I want you all to know how deeply my family & our whole Country were moved by the sympathy &, I may say affection shown my Father, the King, by the people & Press of the United States during his recent illness."



    SV Princess Elizabeth speaks:- "I am sure that we are going to enjoy every moment of our stay here."



    LV Princess Elizabeth continues:- "I am glad too that I am to have the chance in a few minutes to meet some of you, personally. I only wish I had the chance to meet you all." (Applause) CU Duke listening inserted in above speech.
