    The Third Pan-African Youth Congress was opened in Dakar on Saturday, December 26th, when 300 delegates from 38 countries of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) gathered in the Senegalese National Assembly building. The conference was declared open by Senegal's Prime Minister Abdou Diouf, who addressed the youth delegates warning them not to serve foreign ideologies.

    Another speaker was Senegal's Youth Secretary General, Serigne Babacar, who spoke of his country's interest in the Pan-African movement and welcomed the delegates from the visiting countries.

    He in turn was followed by the Secretary of State of the Pan-African Youth Congress, M. Lamine Diack, who said that the leading objective of the Congress was to lead the young people of Africa to contribute to the realisation of African Unity and to help them fain full knowledge of the realities of their Continent.

    At the Conference, which lasts until December 31st, the young delegates will discuss many subjects of common interests.
