    THE TWO LEADER OF THE MALAYAN AND THAI DELEGATIONS ARE THE MALAYSIAN MINISTER OF HOME AFFAIRS, DATO ISMAIL BIN DATO ABDUL RAHMAN, AND AIR CHIEF MARSHAL DATO DAWEE CHULLASAPYA, CHAIRMAN OF THE THAI JOINT CHIEFS OF STAFF.

    ALONG THE 370-MILE NECK OF THE MALAYAN PENINSULA WHICH BORDERS THAILAND SOME FIVE HUNDRED MEMBERS OF THE SO-CALLED "MALAYAN LIBERATION ARMY" HAVE BEEN LURKING SINCE THE MALAYAN EMERGENCY ENDED IN 1960.AT ONE TIME THE ARMY HAD A TOTAL MEMBERSHIP OF 15,000.

    THIS YEAR THE JOINT CONFERENCE HAS TAKEN ON A NEW SIGNIFICANCE AND URGENCY IN VIEW OF THE INDONESIAN CONFRONTATION OF MALAYSIA AND THE RENEWED COMMUNIST ACTIVITIES AROUND THAILAND'S BORDERS.
