Background: Cuban leader Fidel Castro addressed a mass gathering in Havana on Monday evening (26th July) during National Day celebrations. In a two-and-a-half hour speech he predicted that the United States would continue to lay seige to, and blockade, Cuba, but that Cuba would not change its Anti-imperialistic position. He emphasised that Cubans would stand firm until all the peoples of Latin America had been freed. There was a strong word of praise from him for the continuing revolutionary processes in countries such as Chile, Peru and Bolivia.
