  • Description

THE POWERFUL FRENCH COMMUNIST PARTY STAGED A RALLY IN PARIS ON TUESDAY NIGHT (31 MARCH) TO PROTEST SUNDAY'S (29 MARCH) ATTACK BY VANDALS ON LENIN MUSEUM.

IN THE ATTACK VANDALS SMASHED EXHIBITS IN THE MUSEUM AND LEFT BEHIND LEAFLETS ATTACKING SOVIET AND CHINESE LEADERS.

DURING TUESDAY'S RALLY THOUSAND OF LEFTISTS SWARMED THROUGH PARIS STREETS CARRYING PRO-LENIN PLACARDS AND CHANTING PRO-COMMUNIST SLOGANS.

THE FRENCH COMMUNIST NEWSPAPER L'HUMANITE ACCUSED POLICE OF NOT ACTING AGAINST THE VANDALS BECAUSE IT SAID SUCH ACTS WERE USEFUL TO THE GOVERNMENT. CHARGING THAT THE VANDALISM WAS PART OF A FASCIST UPSURGE, L'HUMANITE ADDED THAT THE GOVERNMENT HAD EVERY REASON TO BE SATISFIED WITH THE RECENT OUTSIDE OF VIOLENCE.

EARLIER THIS MONTH, RIGHT-WINGERS ATTACKED A THEATRE SHOWING AN AVANT-GARDE PLAY WHICH THE ROLE OF EVA PERON, WIFE OF THE FORMER ARGENTINIAN LEADER, IS PLAYED BY A MAN.
