  • Description

General Motors and the Southern Pacific Railway have got together in the United States to produce a new method of transporting cars.

They go on rail transporters as usual, but they now travel on their noses in a specially designed vehicle.

The Vertapak transporter, takes 30 compact cars in this most economical way. General Motors have designed their new Vega compact to fit the system.

The transporter doors become side-ramps for the cars, and unloading is an easy matter.

There are other very real advantages. The old, open type of freight-car suffered a great deal from vandals.

Now the cars are completely sealed in. New models are kept secret, safe from the weather, rock-throwers, riflemen and thieves.
