Background: Sir Eric Harrison, Australian High Commissioner in London, presented the Medium Bomber Squadron Efficiency Trophy to No.90 Squadron of the RAF at Honington, Suffolk, UK. July 28. He was accompanied by three Royal Australian Air Force Officers.

The silver Trophy was donated to Headquarters Bomber Command by No. 460 Squadron (Royal Australian Air Force) in memory of aircrew killed in World War Two, during which 460 Squadron was based in England. It is awarded for best all-round results in aircraft serviceability and utilisation, flight safety, bombing and navigation, general training and performances in exercises, demonstration and displays.

No 90 Squadron, first recipient of the Trophy was formed in 1917, reformed in 1937 and took part in many World War Two operations including attacks on the German battle-cruisers "Scharnhorst" and "Gneisenau". The Squadron now flies "Valiant" bombers.
