Background: An African leader visits West Germany for economic talks: On Jan. 24th in Bonn Tanganyika's Chief Minister Mr. Julius Nyerere visited German President Luebke and, later, Chancellor Adenauer.
Mr. Nyerere is on a five-day visit to the Federal Republic to encourage West Germany investment in Tanganyika. He is accompanied by his Ministers for Commerce and Industry, and for Finance, and will tour industrial plants in Hamburg and Duesseldorf. He will also have talks with Germany's Economic Minister Dr. Erhard, and other officials.
Tanganyika -- at present administered by Britain under a United Nations trusteeship -- is on its way to full independence, and before the first World War was a German colony.
