    THE STUDENTS OF CHULALONKORN UNIVERSITY IN BANGKOK, THAILAND, HAD A RARE ENTERTAINMENT TREAT LAST WEEK WHEN HIS MAJESTY, KING BHUMIPOL ADULYADEJ, JOINED A BAND WITH HIS SAXOPHONE FOR AN EVENING OF JAZZ.

    THE THAI KING IS A WELL-KNOWN JAZZ SAXOPHONIST AND IS RATED AS ONE OF THE BEST IN ASIA. HIS PERFORMANCE AT THE UNIVERSITY BEGAN WITH A SONG COMPOSED BY HIMSELF AND NAMED AFTER THE UNIVERSITY.

    THE TREAT WAS PART OF A FUND-RAISING SHOW WHICH LASTED FIVE HOURS. IT WAS JOINED BY THE DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER, PRAPHAS CHARUS THIEN, THE RECTOR OF THE UNIVERSITY, WHO LENT HIS VOICE TO ADD TO THE EVENING'S FUN. THE KING'S TWO DAUGHTERS, PRINCESS SIRITHORN AND CHULABHORA, SANG "WOODEN HEART" AND "DOMINIQUE".
