    A GROUP OF SIX BRITISH MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT ARRIVED IN BLANTYRE ON WEDNESDAY TO BEGIN A 10-DAY VISIT TO MALAWI AS GUESTS OF THE MALAWI BRANCH OF THE COMMONWEALTH PARLIAMENTARY ASSOCIATION. THEIR FIRST VISIT WAS TO THE SOCHE HILL UNIVERSITY COLLEGE IN BLANTYRE.

    THE VISITING BRITISH GROUP, LED BY LORD SEGAL, WAS MET AT BLANTYRE AIRPORT BY SEVERAL MEMBERS OF MALAWI'S PARLIAMENT. ONE OF THE VISITORS, MR JOHN CORDLE, M.P., SAID THEY WERE MAINLY IN THE COUNTRY TO GET TO KNOW MALAWI AND ITS PEOPLE "SO WE MAY TAKE UP THE CAUSE OF MALAWI IN THE HOUSE OF COMMONS." HE CLAIMED SOME FACTIONS IN THE COMMONS WERE AGAINST GIVING AID TO DEVELOPING COUNTRIES.

    AFTER THEIR ARRIVAL, THE VISITING M.P.'s WENT TO THE SOCHE HILL COLLEGE, WHICH TRAINS TEACHERS FOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN MALAWI. THEY MET THE PRINCIPAL, SIR MARTIN ROSEVEARE, AND THE VICE CHANCELLOR, DR. I. MICHAEL. THE VISITORS THEN LEFT TO START A FIVE-DAY TOUR OF MALAWI'S NORTHERN REGION. LATER IN THEIR VISIT, THEY EXPECT TO HAVE TALKS WITH PRESIDENT KAMUZU BANDA.
