Argentina's former President Dr. Hector Campora, has said there is no chance of a military?
Argentina's former President Dr. Hector Campora, has said there is no chance of a military coup against the Government of General Juan Person.
Dr. Campora, recently appointed Argentina's Ambassador to Mexico, was speaking after presenting his credentials to President Luis Echeverria in Mexico City, on thursday (December 20).
In July, after only seven weeks in the nation's highest office, Dr. Campora resigned as President of Argentina to clear the way for the election of General Juan Peron who returned after 17 years in exile.
Dr. Campora said the overwhelming vote of support in the Presidential election in September showed that General Peron was exempt from being deposed. He said General Peron would unite the people of Argentina--including the Armed Forces -- and so avoid any chance of a military coup.
Dr. Campora said Argentina took no sides in the Middle East crisis. He said General Peron was concentrating on national unity and reconstruction, and wanted to see the world united and at peace.
