    In Abidjan on Tuesday, the new ambassador from the Congo Democratic Republic, Antoine Ngwenza, presented his credentials to the President of the Ivory Coast, Felix Houphouet-Boigny. The new Ambassador is the second to be sent to the Ivory Coast this year. Mr Ngwenza's predecessor had been appointed to a ministerial post in the Government of President Joseph Mobutu.

    SYNOPSIS: On Tuesday in Abidjan, at the presidentia palace, the new ambassador from the Congo Democratic Republic presented his credentials to President Felix Houphouet-Boigny. In addition to the President, several other Ivory Coast government officials were on hand for the greeting of the new Ambassador, Antoine Ngwenza.

    Mr Ngwenza said that he was pleased to be able to appear before President Houphouet-Boigny as the new ambassador form the Congo Democratic Republic. He said that he was honoured that President Joseph Mobutu should appoint him to so high ranking a position.

    In his response, President Houphouet-Boigny thanked the new Ambassador for his kind words. He said that it was his pleasure to be receiving the second ambassador from the Congo Democratic Republic within a year. The previous ambassador had been recalled to a ministerial post in the government of President Mobutu. Mr Houphouet-Boigny said that this can only strengthen the good relations between the two countries, as it demonstrates the high quality of men assigned to the embassy in the Ivory Coast.
