Background: A staunch and unswaying follower of the midi look, London fashion designer Mattli, true to style, has all the hems well below the knee in his 1970 Autumn range.
In his new collection, Mattli features a stunning evening gown of black and gold brocade, with a plunging neckline to compensate for the long hemline.
Then there is a bright yellow topcoat, plain-cut in warm material, with a stark black bea-hive hat to offset the flamboyance of the coat.
For slightly warmer autumn days, there are a couple of Mattli two-piece suits, one plain purple and the other in brown and white tweed--both with maxi skirts.
Other Mattli evening dresses previewed include a romantic-style creation in lilac chiffon and a two piece costume in yellow, with the top section ending below the knee to reveal a flared, pleated maxi-skirt.
