    A four-member Belgian delegation, led by Foreign Trade Minister Andre Kempinaire, has been visiting New Delhi for trade talks with Indian officials.

    Since Britain's entry into the Common Market, India has been making special efforts to increase its trade with Western Europe.

    On Thursday (26 April), the Belgian delegation called on the Indian Foreign Trade Minister, Professor D.P. Chattopadhyaya, and External Affairs Minister Sardar Swaran Singh.

    SYNOPSIS: A Belgian delegation has been visiting New Delhi. On Thursday, the Belgian Foreign Trade Minister, M. Andre Kempinaire -- who headed the delegation -- met his Indian counterpart, Professor D.P. Chattopadhyaya.

    The two ministers discussed ways of increasing trade between India and Belgium. Since Britain joined the Common Market, India has been making special efforts to increase its trade with Western Europe.

    Later on Thursday, the four-man Belgian delegation was received by the Indian External Affairs Minister, Mr. Sergar Swaran Singh. The trade drive in India followed a series of Belgian economic contacts with Communist countries. Earlier in April, M. Kempinaire became the first Belgian Minister to visit The People's Republic of China. Exploratory talks on trade and economic co-operation were due to take place with East Germany in May.
