I AM PROUD TO BE HERE, AND TO BE WELCOMED BY YOU SO GRACIOUSLY, AND I AM CONFIDENT THAT AT THE BEGINNING OF THIS JOURNEY, THE FACT THAT IT START ON THIS SOIL IS A GOOD OMEN FOR THE FUTURE."     KING BAUDOUIN INTRODUCED THE OFFICIAL BELGIAN WELCOMING PARTY TO PRESIDENT NIXON WHO IN TURN INTRODUCED MEMBERS OF HIS TEAM, INCLUDING SECRETARY OF STATE, WILLIAM ROGERS, PRESIDENTIAL ASSISTANT FOR NATIONAL SECURITY AFFAIRS, DR. HENRY KISSINGER AND AMBASSADOR EMIL MOSBACHER, CHIEF OF PROTOCOL.

    THE NATIONAL HYMN OF THE UNITED STATES WAS THEN PLAYED AS THE KING AND PRESIDENT NIXON STOOD ON A ROSTRUM.

    REPLYING TO KING BAUDOUIN'S SPEECH OF WELCOME PRESIDENT NIXON SAID:
    PRESIDENT NIXON AND KING BAUDOUIN THEN INSPECTED A GUARD OF HONOUR BEFORE FURTHER INTRODUCTIONS WERE MADE INSIDE THE AIRPORT LOUNGE. THROUGHOUT THE CEREMONIES A GROUP OF LEFT-WING PEOPLE CHANTED ANTI-NIXON SLOGANS FROM THE ROOF OF THE AIRPORT BUILDING. THE PRESIDENT APPEARED UNCONCERNED.

    AFTER TALKS WITH BELGIAN LEADERS TODAY, THE PRESIDENT AND HIS PARTY LEAVE FOR LONDON TONIGHT.
