SYNOPSIS: The line up attracted a lot of attention from both the media and from members of the London Variety Club -- a charitable organisation which gives funds to underprivileged children. Miss Hong kong's attractive costume was matched by that of Miss Indonesia.
Miss Japan added another oriental flavour.
Lebanon was one of the ??? Arab countries represented.
Miss New Zealand, a keen rugby follower. The day before, she had played in a publicity rugby match with a team from the first battalion of the Scotts Guards.

Among the most spectacular costumes were those of Miss Thailand and Miss Peru.

The appearance by the girls was followed by a luncheon which raised several thousand pounds for the children's charity. It also gave the contestants a chance to bring a little of their individual cultures to London.
