  • Description

Mr Georgi Zhukov, President of the Soviet State Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, arrived at the British Foreign Office, London, Nov 24, with members of his delegation and the russian Ambassador to London, Jacob Malik.

He was scheduled to have talks on the development of further cultural exchanges between Britain and the Soviet Union, as provided for by arrangements made between premiers Macmillan and Kruschev during the former's visit to Moscow earlier this year.

An agreement signed in Moscow last year covered the period of 1959, and the first quarter of 1960. It provided for the exchange of up to 100 specialists in scientific and technical fields. The talks in London will cover the period from April 1960 to March 1961.

Cultural pacts with the United States and the United Arab Republic were signed in Moscow Nov 21. On his arrival at London Airport Nov 22 Mr Zhukov said, "I am happy to be here once again in merry old England. I was first here in 1945."
