Background: Dr. George Habash, leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, addressed a crowd of 7,000 Palestinian refugees in the largest camp in Lebanon, on May Day and told the cheering chanting refugees that every inch of Palestinian territory could be liberated.
As he spoke soldiers of the Palestine Liberation army patrolled the stteets of the camp -- Ain El Heloue near Sidon.
Dr. Habash said Palestinian unity was essential for victory and he called on the Palestinian National Council to give a clear reply on whether Palestinians were going to be represented at the Geneva Middle East peace talks.
"Our masses must ask for a clear and frank attitude announced to all people on the conspiracy we face", he said.
Dr. Habish told the crowds that the Palestinian working class, through an alliance with the masses of the Palestinian people, could achieve its full objectives of liberating every inch of Palestine territory.
