    THE PAN-AFRICAN YOUTH MOVEMENT COMMISSION MET FOR THE OPENING DAY OF ITS DISCUSSIONS IN DAR-ES-SALAAM YESTERDAY TO PREPARE A PROGRAMME AIMED AT ASSISTING LIBERATION MOVEMENTS IN COLONIAL AFRICAN COUNTRIES AND TO CO-ORDINATE THE ACTIVITIES OF YOUTH MOVEMENTS THROUGHOUT THE CONTINENT.

    AMONG THE DELEGATES MEETING IN DAR-ES-SALAAM WERE REPRESENTATIVES OF TANZANIA, ALGERIA, MAURITANIA, ANGOLA, AND A PARTY FROM THE NATIONAL LIBERATION FRONT OF SOUTH VIETNAM.

    THE COMMISSION WAS OFFICIALLY OPENED BY TANZANIA'S MINISTER FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS, MR. S MHANDO. HE TOLD DELEGATES IN HIS OPENING ADDRESS THAT THE INDEPENDENT AFRICAN STATES WERE COMMITTED TO HELP LIBERATE ALL PARTS OF AFRICA STILL UNDER FOREIGN DOMINATION, STRESSING THE NEED FOR ACTION AND EMPHASISING TANZANIA;S SUPPORT OF ALL LIBERATION MOVEMENTS IN SUCH COUNTRIES.

    THE MEETING WAS UNDER THE CHAIRMANSHIP OF MRS PRESTANA ELISA FROM GUINEA, WHO OUTLINED THE AGENDA BEFORE THE COMMISSION. THIS INCLUDED DISCUSSION OF FINANCIAL AID TO LIBERATION MOVEMENTS IN COLONIAL COUNTRIES AND THE SETTLEMENT OF A PROGRAMME OF ACTION FOR YOUTH MOVEMENTS THROUGHOUT AFRICA.
