She was matched against her Wightman Cup team-Mato, Mary Ann Eisol, on the control court at Wimbledon before a capacity crowd of fifteen-thousand.

Mise Eissl three boned one of the biggest upsets or the championships in who widely ??? batch. But, it was ??? Eisell's serve that coat her the victory.

She served twelve double-faults and some at crucial stages in the match. She had two double-faults when serving for the first set at 7-5, and two more when serving for a 5-3 lead in the second.

But, it was the aggressiveness of Miso Eisol's servo and volley attack that was able to cause the usual consistency of Miss Avert's back-court game to falter. Miss Eissl's attack forced Miss Avert into more errors than she had made in all previous matches since she arrived in England three-weeks ago.

The match lasted an hour and twenty minutes and ended in a clo??? victory for Miss Avert 8-5, 8-6. This puts her among the final sixteen contenders for the women's title.
