    Fourteen Roman Catholic bishops from Liberia, Sierra Leone, Gambia and Ghana held a three-day conference in Accra this week (11-13 July).

    The visiting prelates were discussing the creation of a constitution which would link the four English-speaking countries in spiritual matters.

    Other topics dealt with included birth control, the family, youth and a request that laymen and women be allowed to administer the sacrament of Holy communion.

    Archbishop John Amissah of Cape Coast, Ghana, addressed the bishops' meeting on Tuesday.
