    PRESIDENT MOCTAR OULD DADDAH OF MAURITANIA IS PAYING OFFICIAL VISITS TO TANZANIA, ZAMBIA, SOMALIA AND SYRIA. ON HIS WAY HE STOPPED AT DAKAR IN SENEGAL, AND LAGOS IN NIGERIA. HE HAD DISCUSSIONS WITH POLITICAL LEADERS OF BOTH COUNTRIES.

    PRESIDENT DADDAH IS ACCOMPANIED BY HIS MINISTER FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS, M. HAMED OULD MOUKNASS, THE MINISTER OF EDUCATION M. ANDOULAYE BARA, HIS FINANCIAL AND ECONOMIC ADVISER M. MAMADOU CISSOKO, AND THE MAURITANIAN AMBASSADORS TO SENEGAL AND SYRIA.

    AT DAKAR PRESIDENT DADDAH WAS GREETED BY M. KARIM GUEYE, THE SENEGALESE FOREIGN AFFAIRS MINISTER, AND BY M. SENE, DIRECTOR OF PRESIDENT SENGHOR'S STAFF. AT AN EARLIER STOP IN ACCRA, PRESIDENT DADDAH SAID THAT THE BEST WAY TO AFRICAN UNITY, WERE REGIONAL AGREEMENTS SUCH AS THE ORGANISATION OF SENEGAL RIVER STATES, THE WEST AFRICAN GROUP DISCUSSED BY HEADS OF STATE AT MONROVIA, AND THE SAHARA GROUPING DISCUSSED BY THE ORGANISATION OF AFRICAN UNITY AT RECENT MEETING IN ALGIERS.

    AT LAGOS AIRPORT ON FRIDAY PRESIDENT DADDAH HAD TALKS WITH GENERAL YAKUBU GOWON, LEADER OF THE NIGERIAN FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. AT A PRESS CONFERENCE BEFORE HE LEFT FOR EAST AFRICAN COUNTRIES, PRESIDENT DADDAH SAID THAT THE NEXT WEST AFRICAN ECONOMIC UNION'S CONFERENCE WILL BE HELD NEXT MARCH IN OUAGADOUDOU, UPPER VOLTA. HE INDICATED THAT HE MIGHT DISCUSS THE NIGERIAN PROBLEM WITH PRESIDENTS OF ZAMBIA AND TANZANIA, WHOSE COUNTRIES HAVE RECOGNISED BIAFRA.
